Three dragonets in the Library.8/4/26.

I recently have been wantint to re-read the second arc of Wings of Fire again. I believe the first time I read it was when I was in 8th grade. So I bought myself a copy of it when I went to this little local bookstore in North Carolina on a roadtrip with my family. This time around I felt like I had alot in common with Moon then I realize upon my second time reading the book. Anyway towards the end of the book Darkstalker shows Moon a vision about the what the future could look like for Jade Mountain academy. The scene really warmed my heart and also reminded myself of the kind of future I wish the real world could have. The lines "Can you imagine? The tribes hated eachother so much back then." and "It's a good thing we're so much smarter than all the dragons who lived before us. We'd never make their mistakes" being uttered amoung the three dragonets reading the history scroll together really stuck with me. It makes me want to fight for that kind of future despite me being so unsure of the future.
Now on to disscussing the visual aspects of the painting. I painted this with a one of those tin watercolor cake sets instead of the paint that comes from the tube. I have always found watercolor a bit frusterating because it can be hard to color in spots with consistant opacity. Once you paint something you cant to back over it with out leaving a brushstroke with a different opacity. Then it looks like a bunch of inconsistant shading. This issue is very evident on the cave walls. I did take a watercolor class last year and it did help me to understand some techniues to avoid the inconsistant opacity issue I was talking about. Then again when I took that class I used watercolor paint that comes in a tube so it was easier to get the exact amount of paint to water ratio to give my brushstrokes a more consistant opacity. But enough about me complaining about watercolor. In the picture I painted the three dragonets in the library from the vision. The book didnt mention what tribe each dragon was so I assumed which tribe each dragon would be from based off of their color description. The blue one is a Seawing, the dark purple is a Nightwing, and the Brown one is a Mudwing. Maybe these the tribes,names, and descriptons of each dragon are revealed in a later book in the second arc, but I didnt want to overthink this idea and my motivation fades to do the painting I envisioned.

This blog post probably has so many grammatical errors. Sorry about that. One day I will fix it.
